This policy covers Vocabulary Stash 2.0 for iPhone and iPad: what stays on your phone, what is sent for the AI sentence check, and how to delete your data.

In short: no account, no ads, no tracking. The only thing that leaves your phone is a sentence you choose to have checked by AI.

Policy overview

Vocabulary Stash is made by Tahir Genç (Axiom Apps). This policy explains how the app handles information. Our general Axiom Apps privacy policy covers our other apps and this website.

No account, data stays on your phone

Vocabulary Stash 2.0 works without signing up.

  • Your pet, your words, your progress and your review history are stored only on your device, shared with the app's widgets through an App Group.
  • We don't ask for your name, email address or phone number, and we don't create a user ID for you.
  • Your data is not synced to our servers. Deleting the app deletes it.

The AI sentence check

When you write a sentence with a word, the app can check it with AI. It asks for your permission first, and you can say no.

  • With your permission, the app sends the sentence, the word you're practising, your pet's name, your language pair and your current level to our server.
  • Our server sends that text to OpenAI to get feedback, then returns it to the app. OpenAI is a third-party AI provider; we ask it not to store the requests, and OpenAI says API data is not used to train its models.
  • Our server does not save your sentences. Its logs record only the time, the address called and the result, never what you wrote.
  • If you say no, or you're offline, the app checks your sentence on your phone instead, with simpler feedback. You can change your answer in Settings.

Microphone and speech

The "Say it" step listens for today's word.

  • The app asks for microphone and speech recognition permission before listening.
  • Recognition runs on your device when your iPhone supports it. Otherwise Apple's speech recognition service processes the audio, under Apple's privacy policy. We never receive your voice.
  • Words are read aloud with the voice built into iOS.

Keeping the service safe

To stop others from misusing our server, the app proves it is the real Vocabulary Stash app.

  • We use Firebase App Check (Google) with Apple's App Attest. It checks that requests come from a genuine copy of the app on a real device; it doesn't receive your words or sentences.
  • Our server limits how many requests one install can make, using that check in memory only.
  • Our server runs on Google Cloud in the European Union (Belgium). Requests to OpenAI are processed in the United States.

What we don't do

Vocabulary Stash is built to need as little as possible.

  • No ads, no tracking across apps or websites, and no selling or sharing of data for advertising.
  • No analytics SDKs. If you have chosen to share crash reports with developers in your iPhone settings, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports.
  • Reminders are scheduled on your device; no notification server is involved.

Your choices and deleting your data

You stay in control.

  • Turn the AI sentence check on or off at any time in Settings.
  • Manage microphone, speech recognition and notification permissions in your iPhone's Settings.
  • Delete the app to delete everything it stored. There is nothing left on our servers to delete.
  • Used version 1.x with an account? Your email address and saved words may still be on our older servers. Email us from that address and we'll delete them within 30 days.

Children

Vocabulary Stash is rated 4+ and does not collect personal information.

  • Because there are no accounts, we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
  • Sentences sent for the AI check are not linked to a person, a device or an account.

Changes to this policy

If what the app collects changes, this page changes first.

  • The last updated date at the top will change when revisions go live.
  • If a change needs new permission from you, the app will ask before it applies.
